Rescue Me ID: 17-01-12-00137Honey (female)

Pointer Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed

Honey was found together with her sister Dixie in the Corridor of Cruelty. They seemed disoriented and we assume they were most likely dumped by their owners. Both of them were skinny and very hungry but in overall good spirits. After they got a yummy meal they started playing silly games with each other and the more we watched them the less likely were we going to leave them behind. Honey was approximately born on 11/28/2015 and is about one year old now. She is a cute Pointer mix and weighs around 35 pounds. Her caretaker at the boarding facility describes her as a very loving dog with lots of energy. They are currently working on basic ... (Read More)commands and getting her used to being around other dogs. Honey initially did not want to make friends with any other dogs. The only dog she felt save around and comfortable with was her sister Dixie. Now she does seem to get along with a few others but is still scared of strange dogs and selective about who she is going to a have a game of tug-o-war with. While she may take a little longer to warm up with other dogs she makes friends with people easily and does well around respectful children. She keeps her kennel impeccable, has excellent leash manners and already knows how to sit for treats. Honey is still a very young dog and we would love for her to grow up in a home environment, where she can thrive and get all the TLC a puppy needs and deserves. Honey could be fostered or adopted together with her sister Dixie. Otherwise, we believe she would do best as an only dog with an active family where she can romp and run as much as her little heart pleases. **This dog is with Corridor Rescue in Houston, Texas but is available for transport to most major US and Canadian cities via United Airlines PetSafe for an additional $275. A customs fee may apply at Canadian airports. Ground transportation to Colorado is available for $75, and several locations in the northeastern US for $175. We are a street dog rescue in Houston, Texas seeking to place rescued dogs in loving homes across the US and Canada. Our region has more homeless animals than homes, so we look outside of our area for adopters. The adoption fee of $200 covers spay, microchip and current vaccines. Please apply to adopt or foster Honey online at www.corridorrescue.org. Direct inquiries to: adopt@corridorrescue.org. Rescue Me ID: 16-12-23-00301Gia (female)

Basenji Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Gia is an adorable mixed breed puppy. What breed you ask? Well, we are not quite sure, but we assume she may be part Basenji and maybe part Pharaoh Hound. What we do know, she is 100% lovable. She was born around the end of June 2016 and is now 5-6 months old and weighs 20 lbs. Poor Gia was found as a young puppy at only 3 month old, abandoned in the Houston Corridor in less than ideal conditions. She had a badly injured leg, was mostly hairless and itchy skin from mange, hungry and quite afraid of people. Understandably, she is a bit shy around new people, but warms up to dogs right away and has learned to appreciate cuddles from her ... (Read More)foster parents. Here is what her foster mom had to say about Gia: 'She is still pretty shy around people - she will come up to me and let me pet her and is excited to see me when we let her out of the kennel, but if we walk up to her she will run away and hide. She is pretty terrified on a leash, but we are working on walking her with one of our dogs and she is getting a bit better. I took her to the dog park today and had to carry her to and from the car, but inside the park she had a blast. Her tail was up and wagging the whole time and she loved the couple of dogs that came while we were there. Even though she is shy around people she LOVES dogs. Every time she gets let out of the kennel she has to lick all three of our dogs to say hello, and she loves playing with them. Because of her personality, I think she would do best in a home with at least one other dog, and with people that understand that she is shy and are willing to give her time to warm up to them. I'm a little hesitant about young kids because of how skittish she is, if they didn't understand that and chased her around I think she wouldn't like it. But if she was in a home with a young couple who eventually had kids, I think she would be fine if she had the time to adjust to the people first and then the baby whenever it comes.' Gia is quick to learn new tricks - she already knows how to come, sit, and is kennel trained. She is working on remembering to go outside to potty. Each day, Gia is feeling a little better and gains more confidence. Her painful itchy skin is a thing of the past, her coat is re-growing nicely, her little leg doesn't hurt anymore and she feels more and more comfortable around her foster parents. Gia is finally enjoying puppyhood. Just like it was always supposed to be. Now, we just need to find Gia a family with other dog siblings; A family, who understands that Gia was quite traumatized from being left behind to fend for herself and possibly encountered people that weren't very kind to her; A family that has the time and patience to let her come out of her shell and bond with her. Is that family you? This will be Gia's very first Christmas and even if she won't admit it, she cannot wait to meet you and hopefully unpack all of her Christmas presents in her very own home. **Gia is with Corridor Rescue in Houston, Texas. She is not yet spayed and only available for adoption locally. Once she has received surgery she will be available for transport to most major US and Canadian cities via United Airlines PetSafe for an additional $275. Rescue Me ID: 16-12-23-00298Mr. Fox (male)

Collie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Mr. Fox is a spunky Border Collie mix, who is about 6 years old and weighs 45 pounds. The plight of a Houston street dog goes beyond being homeless, hungry and scared. Many of them are injured either due to having to fight with other dogs, for limited food, getting hit by cars or being intentionally hurt by humans. Mr. Fox is one of those poor souls who suffered injuries by a human. He was found scared and covered with stab wounds. Neighbors reported that he had been roaming ever since being a puppy, and some families would occasionally feed him. We are saddened that Mr. Fox had been doomed to trying to survive for so many years on the ... (Read More)streets and never got to enjoy a care free life. The good news is he is making up for it now in full strides. His wounds have healed nicely, he has put on a few pounds and has adjusted rather quickly to being an inside dog. He is quite in awe of his unexpected life changes. He was introduced to toys and now he plays as if there is no tomorrow. His foster mom says he just won't stop playing with his furry foster siblings. His favorite game is tug of war. He is also quite intrigued with plush toys and balls to the point that he will hide them so he can have them all for himself. Mr. Fox asks if you, his forever family, can make sure to have a basket full of toys just for him? He is already house and crate trained. He is still working on the leash training but he prefers to leash train his furry siblings instead. Be sure to check out his cute video. He does great with all dogs in the household but prefers to eat where other dogs won't steal his food. Mr. Fox makes friends easily with people introduced to him and also behaves well around toddlers and babies. Cats, however, are not going to be his friends. Overall, he is quite energetic and just loves his new life. This year will be his very first Christmas being inside a home instead of being lonely out in the streets trying to stay warm. Hopefully it will be with you, tucked into a warm blanket, surrounded by plenty of toys and not a thing to worry about, ever again. **Mr. Fox is only available for adoption in Houston, Texas. Rescue Me ID: 16-12-23-00289Shania (male)

Schnauzer Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hello, I'm Shania. I'm 2 years old and weigh around 50 pounds. You might think that I have a confident look about me, but don't let that fool you. I came from a place that was scary and people did not always treat me with kindness, so forgive me if it takes some time for me to trust. You see, I was living on the streets near a flea market when a volunteer with Corridor Rescue saw me and knew I was in danger of not surviving much longer. Today I feel and look healthy. It took some work and patience from my foster family to bond with me and gain my trust, but within a few weeks I was fully integrated and I couldn't be happier! If you ... (Read More)have a friendly dog I can play with, it will help me transition to a new home. I prefer being around dogs my size. My foster siblings are great, they share their toys with me and wrestle with me. I love wrestling and squirming on my back. I also like to play by myself with toys from the toy basket and can be independent. When my foster parents are at work I have to stay in a kennel, but that's ok. They give me a treat every time I get inside, so it's worth it. I need some more training before I can stay in the house loose. When my foster parents come home from work, I am happy to see them. They let me outside where I smile at them and say hello to the other doggies. The dog walker has told my foster parents over the last week that I'm warming up to him and I am trusting enough to show how I play around him. Initially I stayed away from him, but he also has those yummy treats so I decided he's cool. I'm a big girl and who doesn't love tall girls? I'm what you would call 'athletic' but without being much of an athlete. I also like walking with my pack. I'm pretty good on a leash even though I never had one before I was rescued. Please use a soft voice with me and be prepared if something scares me, I will try to hide and cower, so keep a good grip on the leash. I just need some time and that only happens once in a while. I love meal time. Where I came from I had to find my own meals and they were often not very tasty. I am still getting used to having prepared meals. I can't even describe the sheer deliciousness of those little brown nuggets of tasty treats, not once but twice a day. Can you believe it?! I give my foster parents some twirls and a smile before they put the heavenly bowl down by my crate. I'm not proud of this, but I stuff my face like it's Thanksgiving day, every single time. Want to hear something funny? I have a foster brother named Sarge and he was rescued by the same people who helped me. Well, Sarge is now a permanent part of my foster family, and he has the same scruffy dog look as me. We both love our wiry hair, and sometimes when my foster mom pets Sarge, his hair is standing straight up in the middle of his head and sometimes it goes down his back! It looks so funny, and I have heard the word "Mohawk" a few times. The other day I was getting big pet and noticed this strange sensation on my head and neck. And guess what, I had a Mohawk just like Sarge! I don't know any tricks yet. Sometimes when the Dingo Sticks come out that jar on the counter, my foster siblings do funny tricks and get treats. I haven't figured out what they are doing to get served first but I'll figure it out. In the meantime I still get my Dingo Stick. I'm proud to say that I'm pretty much crate and house trained and walk well on leash. My foster mom is very pleased with me and said I'm a quick learner. I'm still shy around strangers, I just need some time to warm up to you. My favorite past time is playing with toys, wrestling with my foster brothers and chewing my treats for being a good girl. **Shania is with Corridor Rescue in Houston, Texas. In February 2017 she will be available for transport to most major US and Canadian cities via United Airlines PetSafe for an additional $275. A customs fee may apply at Canadian airports. Rescue Me ID: 16-12-23-00283Shasta (female)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hi there! I'm Shasta, a German Shepherd / Cattle dog mix. I'm 3.5 years old and weigh around 50 pounds. I had a pretty rough start in life and have not experienced much kindness. This all changed when those rescue ladies crossed my way. I was pregnant again and about to give birth too. They took me and my newborn babies to a clinic to receive emergency care. One of my babies didn't make it but I instantly knew the rest of us were on to a better life. I'm very submissive, low energy and get along great with all people. I'm already house & crate trained and have excellent leash manners. Initially, I'm afraid of strangers and tend to be a ... (Read More)bit shy at first but warm up quickly. I lived with several other dogs in a foster home and got along great with all of them, except for one. I think I would do best in a home where I can be the only furry love of your life. If you do have other dogs and would want to add me to your family then you would need to be located in Houston, be an experienced dog owner and be able to introduce me slowly to the rest of your furry family. Again, I would not mind having you all to myself. Here is what my foster mom has to say about me: She is very sweet and loves to be gently pet. She loves to put her whole head in my hand and lean against me briefly. She has most likely been severely or repeatedly hit and mistreated as she is hand shy and will hit the ground quickly if she thinks you are mad and about to hit her. We have shown her nothing but respect and love and she has responded quickly. She loves to be near us but is happy to lie across the room too. Shasta is afraid of lightning but if she's near you she feels safe and will lie down. Crating her during a bad storm helps her feel safe. She walks great on the leash and does not pull. She responds well and quickly to corrections especially when she's caught in the act of doing something wrong. She is very smart and intuitive. In general, she is a low key, loyal dog who will need some exercise but not excessive amounts. She likes her chewing toys and treats and has a cache sight where all her treasures are too. And last but not least this is what my lovely caretaker at the boarding facility has to say about me: Shasta will be a very loyal appreciative companion. She is so very sweet but very submissive as if someone mistreated her in the past. She loves to be cuddled and very tolerant of hugs and squeezes. She is very house broken, never has had a mishap. She has never growled or snapped at a person but will at some dogs. There you have it. I'm a good girl and gorgeous at that. Now all I need is a gentle & kind family I can call my very own. Is that you? **This dog is with Corridor Rescue in Houston, Texas but is available for transport to most major US and Canadian cities via United Airlines PetSafe for an additional $275. German Shorthaired Pointer Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Tatum is a gorgeous German Shorthair Pointer mix. She weighs 40 pounds. She was found limping on the roadside in the Corridor, looking miserable. Her eyes were pleading for help. Tatum was visibly relieved and calmly sat in the back of the car on her freedom ride. The x-ray at the vet showed an old injury to her ankle. Tatum underwent surgery fuse the joint which greatly relieved her pain. This will not affect her mobility. She has already been using her leg with no issues. She may limp occasionally if she is overactive and she may possibly develop arthritis sooner than later, but other than that, she is pain free and ready to rumble. ... (Read More) Her caretaker describes Tatum as very playful, submissive with people and she gets along with most dogs. She likes to play with cats but not every cat appreciates her playful demeanor. Her favorite games to play are chase or tug of war. While Tatum plays nicely with other dogs, she seems to become distressed when they play too rough around her. She prefers to eat by herself. She would do best in a home with older, respectful children and easy going, yet playful dogs. Tatum is a smart girl and has excellent crate manners. She walks very well on the leash without pulling, knows basic commands such as sit and come, and will come when called off-leash. She enjoys going on car rides and to the store. She is the perfect shopping companion when going on errands to PetSmart, Home Depot or wherever else she is allowed to go inside. She is very well behaved and will assist you in not overspending! **This dog is with Corridor Rescue in Houston, Texas but is available for transport to most major US and Canadian cities via United Airlines PetSafe for an additional $275.     Carter is a two year old Boxer mix with a gorgeous brindle coat and a always ready smile. Our street team, who feeds stray and neglected dogs in a bad part of town, found him laying motionless in the middle of the road. Luckily, after calling out to him, he happily came limping down to greet our volunteer. Poor Carter was malnourished and he had an injured knee. Yet, he was as sweet as sugar and just couldn't believe his luck, someone finally noticed him and filled up his tummy with delicious food. Rescue Me ID: 16-12-23-00252Bo (male)

Pit Bull Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Very Low Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Bo! Bo is a gentle Pit Bull Terrier mix, approximately 6 years old and weighs 60 pounds. Bo was a long time Corridor resident, a dog we long wanted to bring into our program but who would disappear for extended periods of time. Other emergency situations would take precedent, and Bo would take a backseat, patiently waiting for his freedom ride from the cruel streets. After much too long, he finally was rescued. Our volunteers found Bo laying in the grass, motionless. They didn't know if they should be happy to finally have found him or concerned about being too late. He was exhausted, anemic and underweight. He may not have ... (Read More)survived another day. He willingly let our volunteers load him in to the car and rode calmly all the way to the clinic where he seemed resigned to being rescued. After Bo was released from the clinic, he went to a home-based boarding facility and his caretaker fell head over heels in love with him. 'Gentle giant' is the first thing that comes to mind when speaking about Bo. He is very calm and sweet natured yet outgoing as he makes friends with people easily and does well with older children. His caretaker describes him as very submissive with people, he is good around other dogs and he seems to get along with the kennel cat as well. He prefers to play with his human over playing with other dogs. Eventually, Bo will discover the joys of care-free play with other dogs but there is also a good chance that he will just remain a mellow, big teddy bear that only wants to lay next to his human. We do not blame him one bit. He was denied human love and companionship far too long. It is his time to catch up. Bo is crate trained and keeps his kennel clean. He walks nicely on the leash without pulling. He knows sit, stay and will come when you call his name off leash. He loves to do tricks for treats. His favorite commands are sit and shake. We are quite impressed with what he has learned in such short time. Bo is a quick study! Overall, he seems quite pleased with his new life. It is long past time for him to have his very own family and enjoy the perks of being a loved companion. Vizsla Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adult Women Only
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Arthritis

Scarlett is one of those dogs who keeps getting overlooked, even though she is a wonderful catch. We think Scarlett is a mix of breeds possibly Labrador and Vizsla. She was born around February 11, 2012 and she weighs approximately 60 pounds. She's a beautiful red brindle color. Scarlett has a lot of energy and loves to run around in the yard at the boarding facility where she bunks. She really doesn't care for being in a crate and you don't have to worry about putting her in one because she is very clean and well potty-trained. If you need a running or hiking partner then Scarlett is for you! If you give her a treat she will take ... (Read More)it very gently from your hand. She is very smart and knows several commands, chases after toys that you throw, hops like a bunny when she gets excited, and likes to play keep-away. Scarlett is a little dog selective but she likes most dogs. She kisses the pig and ignores the cat at the facility where she is boarding. Black Mouth Cur Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament

Pssst, hello, is this thing on? Hi, my name is Neo, and boy am I glad you stopped to look at my selfie. I love taking selfies, but it would be great to have a photo bomber to call mine own. I am an adventurer who loves swimming, playing tug-war, and man if I could find a running buddy, I might just slow down and let you win! I get along with almost everyone including babies, I mean, come on, who doesn't love babies? I could just lick those cheeks all day long! I am so ready to have a home that I have learned to sit, stay, and come and I would never use the potty anywhere else besides the great outdoors! I adore food, so I need to ... (Read More)be fed separately from the rest of the pack. I was on my own for so long that food is precious to me and I can get a bit hangry. I am sure everyone gets hangry sometimes! Am I right? Look, in all seriousness, I love Corridor Rescue and all my friends here, and they absolutely adore me (I mean, who wouldn't) but it is time for me to find a family of my own. They will understand, I promise! Would you be my photo bomber? This boy was rescued from an unwanted dog dumping ground in Houston on New Year's Day.     Hi ya'll, it's me Rosie Mae! After being rescued from the streets of the Corridor of Cruelty when I was only two, my foster mommy couldn't let me go and adopted me, and that was more than three years ago. We are two peas in a pod who have a fantastic life together. Sadly, my mommy is relocating internationally and can't take me with her. Though we are both very sad, we know that I will find another great home soon. I told mom that our home is awesome but an even bigger yard would be super cool! Mommy says I'm such a fun, beautiful girl who constantly makes her laugh. When not getting a belly rub, I'm more than likely chasing lizards ... (Read More)and squirrels in the yard. My two favorite things are meeting new people and going for walks. Although I have a best dog friend Buddy, who lives across the street, mom says it's better if I'm an only child. I am house training and don't care to chew on anything that doesn't belong to me either. Everyone tells me that I'm a sweetie and how cuddly and affectionate I am. Mommy says that though I'm a 65 lb, I think I'm a lap dog. Average energy level Somewhat dominant Cat compatibility unknown House Trained Leash Trained - walks on leash without pulling Knows SIT, STAY, COME Will come when called when off leash Makes friends with people easily, good with all people including babies and toddlers Likes to play keep-a-way Good running or jogging buddy Likes plush toys, squeaky toys and chew toys **This dog is with Corridor Rescue in Houston, Texas but is available for transport to most major US and Canadian cities via United Airlines PetSafe for an additional $275.     Hello World! Karma, that's me. Do you like my picture? The volunteer said it could've been a lot better if I'd stayed still for just a couple of seconds. I was just so glad to see a human playmate that I completely lost control of my tail. When that happens, it gets to wagging so fast that the rest of me sort of follows along. Happiness! That's my normal state of being. I'm about 55 pounds of pure love and happiness; never met a human I didn't like. I can be sassy with other dogs and would do best in a home where I don't have to compete for love. Cats? Well, maybe I could get used to them. Jury's still out on that one. The kennel staff ... (Read More)here where I am staying, temporarily I hope, say that my body type resembles a sausage! I'm pretty sure that I'm mostly Boxer maybe with some hound mixed in. Hard to know since I've been an orphan most of my life. I hope the kennel staff won't take offense when I tell you how much I want out of this place. They all love me, and say good things like, 'I can't believe Karma hasn't been adopted yet, she's so sweet.' I love them back but it gets lonely here at night and I need a companion. I need to have a playmate and I need long walks with my human. If you need a companion who is submissive, loving, loyal, good with kids and just darn cute, well, I'm your pup! **This dog is with Corridor Rescue in Houston, Texas but is available for transport to most major US and Canadian cities via United Airlines PetSafe for an additional $275. Rescue Me ID: 16-07-21-00620Dallas (male)

Pit Bull Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Fearful/Anxious

Dallas is three years old, we think. He looks like he has some Pit Bull and some Labrador in him and probably other breeds. He is a strikingly handsome fellow with a beautiful face, and a soft, silky coat. He is definitely unique with his mix of brindle, white, and spots and a really gorgeous guy! He was found in the Corridor, half-starved, terrified, and with a broken leg. It took a lot of love and coaxing to come in because he was so scared. He has been severely traumatized by what has gone on in his life before we were able to rescue him. Initially, he was skittish, cried a lot, exhibited submissive urination, hid from sight and ... (Read More)had no trust in people at all. It is heartbreaking contemplate the horrible things he has gone through that would so break his spirit and emotionally scar him so badly. A lot of love and patience by his foster family has helped bring him out of his shell and helped him to learn to trust other dogs, and humans. He seems to get along very well now with his fosters' pack. He has blossomed and is very affectionate and loves to snuggle and give kisses. He can be very playful and joyous and energetic and the difference between when he was first rescued and now is almost impossible to believe. He wants nothing more than to be with his human--once he learns to trust them. That used be something of a problem, however. Dallas used to have a severe case of separation anxiety. He was terrified of being abandoned again, and he could be almost inconsolable. His foster parents have done an amazing job working with him through his fears and rebuilding his confidence for the past 6 month. He is currently on anti-anxiety medication, and he probably will be on it for the indefinite future, perhaps the rest of his life. Here is what they had reported about his progress: 'Dallas is now having many more good days than bad days. In fact, 'bad days' are just a bad memory for him these days. Although he still gets anxious when his foster mom leaves for work, it is now exhibited by a little pacing for a few minutes rather than the heartbreaking displays of desperation and terror which were previously detailed. He loves playing with his foster brothers and sisters and is every bit as rambunctious and joyful as any of them; playing chase with speed and agility and a happy bark that is almost laughter. He gets along great with every member of the pack shows none of the submission skittishness or fear that he previously showed around other dogs. He recently went to the Arboretum and showed perfect behavior to strangers, be they two or four legged. He was calm, polite and confident. In fact, he behaved so well, his foster dad has begun leash training him on the basics. Dallas is picking up everything very quickly, he is a fast learner and a very smart guy and highly treat motivated. Perhaps, even more wonderful, he is not showing any fear or terror at being trained.' Dallas is not the ideal dog for everyone or every family. He cannot be left alone for any extended period of time, and he will need his medication daily. He would probably be best with someone who was home a lot and could devote the time necessary to bond with him, earn his trust, and learn his ways. The rewards, though, would be enormous. A beautiful, loving, sweet, gentle, companion who is eternally grateful and devoted, heart and soul, to his person. Dallas would never feel alone, neglected or abandoned again, and his person would have a true friend for life. If you think you might be a good fit for this special, beautiful, guy, please consider adopting him. A little love will go a long way, and come back a thousand fold. Dallas has his own Facebook page, please check it out. :-) Dallas: A Rescue's Road to Recovery https://www.facebook.com/AdorableDallas/?notif_t=fbpage_fan_invite¬if_id=1472682570361222 ** Dallas is part of our continuing care program.     Howdy! I'm Bear, a affectionate Pit Bull Terrier mix. I'm 4-5 year old and weight around 80 pounds. I was rescued from a miserable life living on the streets of Houston, TX. One day this lovely lady came out to feed the stray dogs in my neighborhood. I knew it was now or never! The minute she opened the car door to get out the food%BD'%BD|I jumped in, seated myself in the back of her car and presented her with my most charming smile ever. She couldn't say no to me! I was blessed. In fact, ever since she rescued me my life has been blessed. She took me to her home and I must admit it was a bit scary at first. I had never been ... (Read More)allowed to be inside a home but my rescue lady patiently worked with me through my fears and slowly introduced me to the life of an inside companion pet. It didn't take very long to get used to a comfy dog bed or cuddling up on the couch with my human. I'm truly intrigued by the so called dog toys such as Kong toys filled with peanut butter or anything else. I had no idea such wonderful things exist. Her own dogs welcomed me into their pack and I learned how much fun it is to have a play buddy. My rescue lady says, I would do best with a dog companion my size as I may hurt the little ones. Unintentionally of course but I'm a big playful boy. I also do very well with respectful children but again due to my size I would do best in a home with older children that I cannot accidentally knock down. I know, I'm a big dog but truly I really just want to be your baby. I already know basic commands such as sit, stay and come. I'm eager to do right by my human. I have an average energy level and I'm very submissive with people. I love all people, especially the ones who give me fun toys, peanut butter and let me lay right next to you. I'm crate and house trained but may need some refreshing as I have been living in a boarding facility for the past couple of month. My rescue lady travels quite often for work and cannot manage taking me with her each time. She said I could be a great running or jogging buddy but will need some more training on the leash as I do get really excited when I can get out of my kennel. I mean, can you blame me?! She still visits me often and I so wish I could go home with her. She said to keep my head up high because my family is out there looking for me and soon I will be going to my very own forever home. Are you the family she is talking about? I sure hope so. Sincerely, Bear **This dog is NOT with Corridor Rescue.     Miss Harriet is an adorable, squatty, snorty Pit Bull. She was found wandering in a bad part of town. She had a huge cut on her throat and we don't even want to imagine what had happened to her. Regardless of the pain she must have been in, she was the sweetest, happiest pup when her rescuers approached her. She knew it was her turn to get off the cruel streets and happily jumped in the car ready to ride. Harriet just adores all people but requested to be the only dog, because she's the queen, you see! Harriet will go above and beyond to please her person. She walks well on the leash, is house and crate trained and listens very well. She ... Occasionally she likes to play tug of war and she seems to like plush/squeaky toys but she really is more of a mellow lady that prefers lounging on the couch instead'|preferably with her person. She also likes to go on car rides and behaves like a perfect little lady. Harriet makes friends with people easily including respectful children. She greets everybody with a big smile and a tail wag. She is that kind of dog that will melt in your hands when showing affection, she loves belly rubs and will fall at sleep if you scratch the right spot. Miss Harriet is asking when it will be her turn to have her very own forever family.     Meet Canela! She is a Pit Bull Terrier mix, weighs about 44 pounds and is 2 years old. Canela currently lives in a foster home and has come a long way. We don't know what happened to her in the past but it left deep scars in her soul. The good news is: she is healing and leaving the painful memories behind. She used to be very fearful and just did not enjoy life. Her foster mom has helped her a great deal to become more trusting and showed her that life is actually not all that bad. Canela now enjoys romping around in the yard and playing fetch. She could be a great jogging buddy! She is an avid swimmer and likes to lounge by the pool ... (Read More)with her mom. Her foster mom said that Canela has become a true love bug and just won't stop kissing her. She will sit for treats, is crate-trained, leash-trained, and potty-trained. She is good with older kids but no dogs or cats please. While Canela is still wary of new people and will take some time to get to know you, she already has made best friends with the yard man. How many dogs do you know of that are friends with the yard man? She will joyfully roll around in the grass each time he arrives. He has no other choice but to get down with her and be showered with kisses. She is a very loving pup once she knows you. She is eager to please her human and even graduated from advanced obedience class. The trainer said she is an extremely smart dog and was easy to train. He has also been working on her fear issues and is confident that she will do just fine with a family that is experienced with dogs and willing to give her time to adjust. Canela is a member of our continuing care program which means her adoption fee is waived for qualified applicants, and a reimbursement of $250 yearly for vet expenses (including preventatives), for up to 5 years, will be given.     I'm Briles. I was born in about July 2014 and I weigh 55 pounds. My breed mix is a bit of a mystery! Maybe some Hound, Pit Bull or Black Mouth Cur? Who knows? I love people; especially ones who give me massages, peanut butter and let me snooze in the sun. I have a favorite spot, right behind my ears, that I like to get rubbed. When that happens, I make a funny sound, because it feels so good! I would rather not spend my time jogging or wrestling with energetic dogs since I'm a really mellow guy. Black Mouth Cur Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Arthritis

Hello world! I'm Ashley, a gorgeous Black Mouth Cur / Pitt Bull or maybe even Hound mix, so they say. I'm 4 years old and weigh 55 pounds. I was dumped in the woods together with my puppies. That area is a pretty bad part of town, known for many roaming and abandoned pets. Luckily, those rescue ladies sighted us and came to feed us every day. It didn't take us very long to trust them and one day they just scooped us up, right into their car and off we were to a better life. Also known as 'Freedom Ride' in rescue terms. So, here we are, a year later. Life had changed quite a bit for me, in a good way of course, but I must admit at times ... (Read More)it was hard to adjust from street life to living inside a home. It took time to understand that I'm being taking care of now, that there is no need to defend myself anymore. The good news is, I got the hang of it now. I'm well behaved inside a home and prefer cuddling up in a soft blanked over hiding in the woods any time. Cats are certainly not my favorite companions and I still have a hard time welcoming strange dogs. My foster mom said, that I would do best in a home with older children and no other pets, especially cats. I have a high prey drive and although I have lived with many other dogs in my foster home, I would do best as an only dog. Oh and I can be somewhat of an escape artist. No worries though, if you have a secure backyard we will not have any issues. I came a long way but have learned quite a bit too. Yes, I'm proud to say that I'm crate and house trained, walk well on leash and know basic commands. I'm a laid back type of girl and a true cuddle bug. Yes, I love to be affectionate with my human and give kisses'|lots of kisses and those belly rubs I just cannot deny. My second favorite thing to do is play with squeaky and soft toys. I'm quite intrigued with those. So, if you are love starved (I have plenty to give), looking for a loyal companion (I promise I will never leave your side), have no other pets in the house and can give me one or two or maybe even three toys then we are a match made in heaven. Now the bad news: I had to go back to boarding. I just wasn't getting along with my foster mom's cats and the other foster dogs. We are both heartbroken and we tried to make it work. So, this is where I am now, in a kennel all by myself. I'm not sure what to think about this yet. I would rather cuddle up with my human on the couch or lay in the backyard trying to catch one of those squirrels. It can get pretty lonely here, especially at night. The kennel staff says to keep my head high because my family is out there looking for me and will find me soon. Is it you? Will you make my rescue complete by giving me a second chance in life and make me a member of your family? I sure hope so. I'm right here waiting for you'| Ashley **Ashley is a member of our Continuing Care program which means her adoption fee is waived for an approved applicant.
