Rescue Me ID: 16-10-16-00391Scarlett (female)

Vizsla Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adult Women Only
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Arthritis

Scarlett is one of those dogs who keeps getting overlooked, even though she is a wonderful catch. We think Scarlett is a mix of breeds possibly Labrador and Vizsla. She was born around February 11, 2012 and she weighs approximately 60 pounds. She's a beautiful red brindle color. Scarlett has a lot of energy and loves to run around in the yard at the boarding facility where she bunks. She really doesn't care for being in a crate and you don't have to worry about putting her in one because she is very clean and well potty-trained. If you need a running or hiking partner then Scarlett is for you! If you give her a treat she will take ... (Read More)it very gently from your hand. She is very smart and knows several commands, chases after toys that you throw, hops like a bunny when she gets excited, and likes to play keep-away. Scarlett is a little dog selective but she likes most dogs. She kisses the pig and ignores the cat at the facility where she is boarding. As far as her human companions, she is affectionate with but not clingy. She has not spent time around children. She is up to date with her vaccines, spayed and microchipped. **Scarlett is a member of our Continuing Care program which means her adoption fee is waived for an approved applicant. In addition we offer a reimbursement of $250 annually for veterinary expenses, for up to 5 years after the adoption date. **This dog is with Corridor Rescue in Houston, Texas but is available for transport to most major US and Canadian cities via United Airlines PetSafe for an additional $275. A customs fee may apply at Canadian airports. Ground transportation to Colorado is available for $75, and several locations in the northeastern US for $175. We are a street dog rescue in Houston, Texas seeking to place rescued dogs in loving homes across the US and Canada. Our region has more homeless animals than homes, so we look outside of our area for adopters. Please apply to adopt or foster online at www.corridorrescue.org. Lab Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed

Princess in the making, looking for her fairy tale ending. My name is Emma, I'm 6 years young and weigh around 65 pounds. I don't remember ever being happy or feeling safe in my entire life. I have always been itchy, hungry and afraid of what may happened next. Now I'm living in heaven, but they call it a foster home. Who knew, such things as dog beds and food and water bowls that are being refilled existed? And let's not forget toys, lots of toys, just for me! I love to play and sometimes when I just can't contain my happiness I gallop. What? Have you never seen a princess galloping? I'm rather shy and it took me some time to get used ... (Read More)to my new environment and people but now I can't help but be affectionate with my human family. I melt in my foster mom's hands, and time stops when she is rubbing my belly or scratching my ears. My skin is healed and I even have all of my hair back. The aches and pains are all gone as well and I'm ready to have my very own fairy tale ending. I'm excited and can't wait to meet my forever family! Is it you? I'm good with older children, I get along with other dogs, and I even tolerate cats. I walk very well on leash, take treats gently out of hands and already know how to sit. What I don't like are crates, those make me very nervous. Lucky for me, my foster mom said I don't need to be crated as I'm already house trained. I hope my forever family will be patient with me and understand that I'm a princess in the making! **This dog is with Corridor Rescue in Houston, Texas but is available for transport to most major US and Canadian cities via United Airlines PetSafe for an additional $275. Black Mouth Cur Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Pssst, hello, is this thing on? Hi, my name is Neo, and boy am I glad you stopped to look at my selfie. I love taking selfies, but it would be great to have a photo bomber to call mine own. I am an adventurer who loves swimming, playing tug-war, and man if I could find a running buddy, I might just slow down and let you win! I get along with almost everyone including babies, I mean, come on, who doesn't love babies? I could just lick those cheeks all day long! I am so ready to have a home that I have learned to sit, stay, and come and I would never use the potty anywhere else besides the great outdoors! I adore food, so I need to ... (Read More)be fed separately from the rest of the pack. I was on my own for so long that food is precious to me and I can get a bit hangry. I am sure everyone gets hangry sometimes! Am I right? Look, in all seriousness, I love Corridor Rescue and all my friends here, and they absolutely adore me (I mean, who wouldn't) but it is time for me to find a family of my own. They will understand, I promise! Would you be my photo bomber? This boy was rescued from an unwanted dog dumping ground in Houston on New Year's Day. He was found by our street team scared and emaciated. But boy, has Neo come out of his shell! He's is 3 years old and a 45 lbs ball of loveable fire! Neo makes friends easily and is all about pleasing his human. He needs an active and experienced handler, someone who can help him properly channel his energy and enthusiasm. We know his hero is out there, we just need to make a love connection. **This dog is with Corridor Rescue in Houston, Texas but is available for transport to most major US and Canadian cities via United Airlines PetSafe for an additional $275. Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hi ya'll, it's me Rosie Mae! After being rescued from the streets of the Corridor of Cruelty when I was only two, my foster mommy couldn't let me go and adopted me, and that was more than three years ago. We are two peas in a pod who have a fantastic life together. Sadly, my mommy is relocating internationally and can't take me with her. Though we are both very sad, we know that I will find another great home soon. I told mom that our home is awesome but an even bigger yard would be super cool! Mommy says I'm such a fun, beautiful girl who constantly makes her laugh. When not getting a belly rub, I'm more than likely chasing lizards ... (Read More)and squirrels in the yard. My two favorite things are meeting new people and going for walks. Although I have a best dog friend Buddy, who lives across the street, mom says it's better if I'm an only child. I am house training and don't care to chew on anything that doesn't belong to me either. Everyone tells me that I'm a sweetie and how cuddly and affectionate I am. Mommy says that though I'm a 65 lb, I think I'm a lap dog. Average energy level Somewhat dominant Cat compatibility unknown House Trained Leash Trained - walks on leash without pulling Knows SIT, STAY, COME Will come when called when off leash Makes friends with people easily, good with all people including babies and toddlers Likes to play keep-a-way Good running or jogging buddy Likes plush toys, squeaky toys and chew toys **This dog is with Corridor Rescue in Houston, Texas but is available for transport to most major US and Canadian cities via United Airlines PetSafe for an additional $275.     Degreed and well-travelled pup looking for a happily ever after. Diego, is my name and I was rescued from a less than favorable living situation. Yes, I was once homeless. The only comfort I had was my street buddy, Bigelow. When it was cold outside we would cuddle up; when there were heavy downpours of rain we would squeeze next one another up against a large tree. Yes, we would still get soaking wet, but we had each other. We would protect each other and share our food. Every day we waited at the same corner for those kind ladies, who gave us yummy meals and scratched our ears. They would tell us,' hang in there buddies, we are ... (Read More)working on a home for you two.' We didn't know, what a home actually was, but those ladies kept us hopeful and waiting. My buddy and I had faced quite a few struggles but we always managed to survive. Then one day, I have to admit, we were pretty beat up, I was limping had a cut on my foot, and had bite wounds all over head, and my buddy was not any better off. So, when those lovely ladies arrived to serve us a yummy meal again, they decided that we had to get off the streets immediately. You just don't know how relieved I was when they loaded us up in their car. I knew I was off to a better place. Since my rescue, I have learned quite a bit. Life has been good and I had no idea how much fun I had been missing out on all of that time. Since my rescue I have earned several degrees. The Art of Squeaky Toys, Art of Ball Catching, Advanced Techniques in the Science of How to Manipulate Your Human, just to name a few. I have also travelled a lot. I would love for my new human to be just as well traveled as I would need you to take me to my favorite places. Long walks and dog parks are on my priority list, after that we might go to Starbucks to get a puppuccino. I know, I know what amazing treats those are. Ice cream will do the trick too. I also enjoy trips to Petsmart or Petco. So, please be prepared so we can take those fun trips together. I also know how to walk on the leash, I know basic commands, I'm house and crate trained and I love to play with most dogs. I can even tolerate some cats. I love all humans, children included and last but not least I have just earned my Master's Degree in Cuddling. I had a rough start in life but I've come a long way. I'm ready and well-prepared to be your best friend for eternity. Oh, I weigh about 45 lbs and I'm three years old. Sincerely, Diego **This dog is with Corridor Rescue in Houston, Texas but is available for transport to most major US and Canadian cities via United Airlines PetSafe for an additional $275.     Hello World! Karma, that's me. Do you like my picture? The volunteer said it could've been a lot better if I'd stayed still for just a couple of seconds. I was just so glad to see a human playmate that I completely lost control of my tail. When that happens, it gets to wagging so fast that the rest of me sort of follows along. Happiness! That's my normal state of being. I'm about 55 pounds of pure love and happiness; never met a human I didn't like. I can be sassy with other dogs and would do best in a home where I don't have to compete for love. Cats? Well, maybe I could get used to them. Jury's still out on that one. The kennel staff ... (Read More)here where I am staying, temporarily I hope, say that my body type resembles a sausage! I'm pretty sure that I'm mostly Boxer maybe with some hound mixed in. Hard to know since I've been an orphan most of my life. I hope the kennel staff won't take offense when I tell you how much I want out of this place. They all love me, and say good things like, 'I can't believe Karma hasn't been adopted yet, she's so sweet.' I love them back but it gets lonely here at night and I need a companion. I need to have a playmate and I need long walks with my human. If you need a companion who is submissive, loving, loyal, good with kids and just darn cute, well, I'm your pup! **This dog is with Corridor Rescue in Houston, Texas but is available for transport to most major US and Canadian cities via United Airlines PetSafe for an additional $275. Shar-Pei Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Are you looking for a lovable, cuddly, silly and playful dog? A dog that has a tons of personality and is ready to explore with you what the world has to offer on adventures. A dog that will be loyal and follow your lead until the very end? Then that would be me! Let me introduce myself, my name is Brutus. I'm a 5 year old Shar Pei Mix and weigh 63 pounds. I was rescued off the streets in less ideal conditions but I have healed up nicely and even got to learn what it is like living inside a home. I cannot believe what I have missed out all of my lonely life. I'm a quick learner and I'm house and crate trained already. I still have to work ... (Read More)on my leash skills but I'm getting there...just be patient with me. I'm good with other dogs and older children. I think I would do best with an experienced dog owner as I can be a handful if I know I can get away with it. I love being active and going to parks but I also can be a couch potato like you have never seen before. This is what my foster dad had to say about me: 'Brutus will be your best television buddy you have ever wished for. He will not bother you or interrupt as he is quite intrigued with this kind of entertainment. I have never seen a dog watch television as intensely as Brutus. Brutus has amazing energy and loves to be outside. He is your typical happy dog, always excited to see me when I come home and even more excited when he knows he is going for a ride in the car. The car is his big thing. He is very well behaved in the car. He doesn't try to stick his head out the window and for the most part, he sits there like a good boy just watching the world go by. After working with Brutus for about 8 weeks or so, I have managed to teach him to come, to stay, to sit, no, down, and of course he responds to telling him what a good boy he is when he is being pet. He loves to be tickled and pushed around on the sofa. He gets very silly and comes back for more. He plays in a very gentle manner. Brutus can still be a handful on a leash as he gets distracted easily. Since Brutus has a lot of energy, a yard where he can run around in or just relax outside would be best. He likes being outside and watching the squirrels in the trees and I'm sure hoping one of them would just fall down. Brutus gets along very well with most dogs but tends to be more of an alpha by nature. For the most part he is a big baby, but having been in the streets, he senses a challenge and will not back down from one. He got along well with my female dog from the moment I took him home. They play and run together often. He is incredibly silly when he plays. He is a true joy to be around and to watch. Brutus is friendly with everyone he meets including children but I don't recommend a home with very small children yet because he tends to get excited and could easily knock down a child without meaning to. Homes with cats are a bad idea. He is a cat chaser as well as a squirrel chaser%BD'%BD|he just can't help it. Brutus is definitely, "Mr. Personality"! He will make you laugh so hard and smother you with kisses and cuddles until you cannot take it anymore. No worries, he will stop if you ask him too but it is hard denying him when you know where he came from.' **Brutus is with Corridor Rescue in Houston, Texas but is available for transport to most major US and Canadian cities via United Airlines PetSafe for an additional $275. Rescue Me ID: 16-07-21-00620Dallas (male)

Pit Bull Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Fearful/Anxious

Dallas is three years old, we think. He looks like he has some Pit Bull and some Labrador in him and probably other breeds. He is a strikingly handsome fellow with a beautiful face, and a soft, silky coat. He is definitely unique with his mix of brindle, white, and spots and a really gorgeous guy! He was found in the Corridor, half-starved, terrified, and with a broken leg. It took a lot of love and coaxing to come in because he was so scared. He has been severely traumatized by what has gone on in his life before we were able to rescue him. Initially, he was skittish, cried a lot, exhibited submissive urination, hid from sight and ... (Read More)had no trust in people at all. It is heartbreaking contemplate the horrible things he has gone through that would so break his spirit and emotionally scar him so badly. A lot of love and patience by his foster family has helped bring him out of his shell and helped him to learn to trust other dogs, and humans. He seems to get along very well now with his fosters' pack. He has blossomed and is very affectionate and loves to snuggle and give kisses. He can be very playful and joyous and energetic and the difference between when he was first rescued and now is almost impossible to believe. He wants nothing more than to be with his human--once he learns to trust them. That used be something of a problem, however. Dallas used to have a severe case of separation anxiety. He was terrified of being abandoned again, and he could be almost inconsolable. His foster parents have done an amazing job working with him through his fears and rebuilding his confidence for the past 6 month. He is currently on anti-anxiety medication, and he probably will be on it for the indefinite future, perhaps the rest of his life. Here is what they had reported about his progress: 'Dallas is now having many more good days than bad days. In fact, 'bad days' are just a bad memory for him these days. Although he still gets anxious when his foster mom leaves for work, it is now exhibited by a little pacing for a few minutes rather than the heartbreaking displays of desperation and terror which were previously detailed. He loves playing with his foster brothers and sisters and is every bit as rambunctious and joyful as any of them; playing chase with speed and agility and a happy bark that is almost laughter. He gets along great with every member of the pack shows none of the submission skittishness or fear that he previously showed around other dogs. He recently went to the Arboretum and showed perfect behavior to strangers, be they two or four legged. He was calm, polite and confident. In fact, he behaved so well, his foster dad has begun leash training him on the basics. Dallas is picking up everything very quickly, he is a fast learner and a very smart guy and highly treat motivated. Perhaps, even more wonderful, he is not showing any fear or terror at being trained.' Dallas is not the ideal dog for everyone or every family. He cannot be left alone for any extended period of time, and he will need his medication daily. He would probably be best with someone who was home a lot and could devote the time necessary to bond with him, earn his trust, and learn his ways. The rewards, though, would be enormous. A beautiful, loving, sweet, gentle, companion who is eternally grateful and devoted, heart and soul, to his person. Dallas would never feel alone, neglected or abandoned again, and his person would have a true friend for life. If you think you might be a good fit for this special, beautiful, guy, please consider adopting him. A little love will go a long way, and come back a thousand fold. Dallas has his own Facebook page, please check it out. :-) Dallas: A Rescue's Road to Recovery https://www.facebook.com/AdorableDallas/?notif_t=fbpage_fan_invite¬if_id=1472682570361222 ** Dallas is part of our continuing care program. Corridor Rescue will waive the customary adoption fee. In addition we will reimburse a maximum of $250 of medical expenses per calendar year, inclusive of flea and heartworm preventives. **Dallas is available for adoption in Houston only.     Howdy! I'm Bear, a affectionate Pit Bull Terrier mix. I'm 4-5 year old and weight around 80 pounds. I was rescued from a miserable life living on the streets of Houston, TX. One day this lovely lady came out to feed the stray dogs in my neighborhood. I knew it was now or never! The minute she opened the car door to get out the food%BD'%BD|I jumped in, seated myself in the back of her car and presented her with my most charming smile ever. She couldn't say no to me! I was blessed. In fact, ever since she rescued me my life has been blessed. She took me to her home and I must admit it was a bit scary at first. I had never been ... (Read More)allowed to be inside a home but my rescue lady patiently worked with me through my fears and slowly introduced me to the life of an inside companion pet. It didn't take very long to get used to a comfy dog bed or cuddling up on the couch with my human. I'm truly intrigued by the so called dog toys such as Kong toys filled with peanut butter or anything else. I had no idea such wonderful things exist. Her own dogs welcomed me into their pack and I learned how much fun it is to have a play buddy. My rescue lady says, I would do best with a dog companion my size as I may hurt the little ones. Unintentionally of course but I'm a big playful boy. I also do very well with respectful children but again due to my size I would do best in a home with older children that I cannot accidentally knock down. I know, I'm a big dog but truly I really just want to be your baby. I already know basic commands such as sit, stay and come. I'm eager to do right by my human. I have an average energy level and I'm very submissive with people. I love all people, especially the ones who give me fun toys, peanut butter and let me lay right next to you. I'm crate and house trained but may need some refreshing as I have been living in a boarding facility for the past couple of month. My rescue lady travels quite often for work and cannot manage taking me with her each time. She said I could be a great running or jogging buddy but will need some more training on the leash as I do get really excited when I can get out of my kennel. I mean, can you blame me?! She still visits me often and I so wish I could go home with her. She said to keep my head up high because my family is out there looking for me and soon I will be going to my very own forever home. Are you the family she is talking about? I sure hope so. Sincerely, Bear **This dog is NOT with Corridor Rescue. Pit Bull Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Canela! She is a Pit Bull Terrier mix, weighs about 44 pounds and is 2 years old. Canela currently lives in a foster home and has come a long way. We don't know what happened to her in the past but it left deep scars in her soul. The good news is: she is healing and leaving the painful memories behind. She used to be very fearful and just did not enjoy life. Her foster mom has helped her a great deal to become more trusting and showed her that life is actually not all that bad. Canela now enjoys romping around in the yard and playing fetch. She could be a great jogging buddy! She is an avid swimmer and likes to lounge by the pool ... (Read More)with her mom. Her foster mom said that Canela has become a true love bug and just won't stop kissing her. She will sit for treats, is crate-trained, leash-trained, and potty-trained. She is good with older kids but no dogs or cats please. While Canela is still wary of new people and will take some time to get to know you, she already has made best friends with the yard man. How many dogs do you know of that are friends with the yard man? She will joyfully roll around in the grass each time he arrives. He has no other choice but to get down with her and be showered with kisses. She is a very loving pup once she knows you. She is eager to please her human and even graduated from advanced obedience class. The trainer said she is an extremely smart dog and was easy to train. He has also been working on her fear issues and is confident that she will do just fine with a family that is experienced with dogs and willing to give her time to adjust. Canela is a member of our continuing care program which means her adoption fee is waived for qualified applicants, and a reimbursement of $250 yearly for vet expenses (including preventatives), for up to 5 years, will be given. She is current on her vaccines, spayed and microchipped. **This dog is with Corridor Rescue in Houston, Texas but is available for transport to most major US and Canadian cities via United Airlines PetSafe for an additional $275. Black Mouth Cur Mix    Age: Young Adult

Hello! My name is Briles. I was born in about July 2014 and I weigh about 55 pounds. I'm a low energy boy. My breed mix is a bit of a mystery! Maybe some hound, Labrador, Pit Bull or Staffordshire Terrier? Who knows? I do a few cute things that would make you fall in love with me, like splashing in the water and waddling my chubby little self like a hippo when I run. I love to eat and am currently working on sharing my food, treats, and toys. I would rather have them all for myself! I'm a bit of a foodie but am working on it. Before the nice people at Corridor Rescue saved me from living in the woods, I had never been on a leash, but I ... (Read More)like it and walk very nicely now that my foster mom trained me. Like I said, I love treats and I'll take those very gently out of your hands. I also know the command to sit. I'm smart, they tell me! I will let you rub my belly for as long as you would like, or better yet scratch my head and ears. I'll take a little time to get to know and trust my new family, but please know that I want one so badly. I don't need a big house or a big yard, just a little space, a leash for walks, and LOTS of love. **This dog is with Corridor Rescue in Houston, Texas but is available for transport to most major US and Canadian cities via United Airlines PetSafe for an additional $275. Black Mouth Cur Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Arthritis

Hello world! I'm Ashley, a gorgeous Black Mouth Cur / Pitt Bull or maybe even Hound mix, so they say. I'm 4 years old and weigh 55 pounds. I was dumped in the woods together with my puppies. That area is a pretty bad part of town, known for many roaming and abandoned pets. Luckily, those rescue ladies sighted us and came to feed us every day. It didn't take us very long to trust them and one day they just scooped us up, right into their car and off we were to a better life. Also known as 'Freedom Ride' in rescue terms. So, here we are, a year later. Life had changed quite a bit for me, in a good way of course, but I must admit at times ... (Read More)it was hard to adjust from street life to living inside a home. It took time to understand that I'm being taking care of now, that there is no need to defend myself anymore. The good news is, I got the hang of it now. I'm well behaved inside a home and prefer cuddling up in a soft blanked over hiding in the woods any time. Cats are certainly not my favorite companions and I still have a hard time welcoming strange dogs. My foster mom said, that I would do best in a home with older children and no other pets, especially cats. I have a high prey drive and although I have lived with many other dogs in my foster home, I would do best as an only dog. Oh and I can be somewhat of an escape artist. No worries though, if you have a secure backyard we will not have any issues. I came a long way but have learned quite a bit too. Yes, I'm proud to say that I'm crate and house trained, walk well on leash and know basic commands. I'm a laid back type of girl and a true cuddle bug. Yes, I love to be affectionate with my human and give kisses'|lots of kisses and those belly rubs I just cannot deny. My second favorite thing to do is play with squeaky and soft toys. I'm quite intrigued with those. So, if you are love starved (I have plenty to give), looking for a loyal companion (I promise I will never leave your side), have no other pets in the house and can give me one or two or maybe even three toys then we are a match made in heaven. Now the bad news: I had to go back to boarding. I just wasn't getting along with my foster mom's cats and the other foster dogs. We are both heartbroken and we tried to make it work. So, this is where I am now, in a kennel all by myself. I'm not sure what to think about this yet. I would rather cuddle up with my human on the couch or lay in the backyard trying to catch one of those squirrels. It can get pretty lonely here, especially at night. The kennel staff says to keep my head high because my family is out there looking for me and will find me soon. Is it you? Will you make my rescue complete by giving me a second chance in life and make me a member of your family? I sure hope so. I'm right here waiting for you'| Ashley **Ashley is a member of our Continuing Care program which means her adoption fee is waived for an approved applicant.
